Daniel has been part of García Barragán Abogados for more than 8 years and works as a partner in the Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions department, as well as in the Litigation, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution department.
He has more than 12 years of professional experience and his practice focuses on commercial and administrative litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, as well as corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, banking and financial law, fintech, compliance, as well as energy and infrastructure issues.
Represents domestic and foreign clients in corporate matters applied to domestic or cross-border transactions with a special focus on financing, debt instruments, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
His experience includes representing national credit institutions in the restructuring of various credit contracts whose amounts amounted to 800 million pesos, as well as representing foreign companies in the restructuring of debts entered into with Mexican companies, both public and private, with guarantees of various kinds.
He continually advises banks on compliance with their obligations to the National Banking and Securities Commission, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, and internally to their various control and risk committees. He also represents these institutions in commercial litigation, the total value of which exceeds 1,000 million pesos.
He has also represented Latin American companies in corruption and compliance (white collar) and regulatory matters in light of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as national anti-corruption legislation.
His practice in commercial law includes the resolution of disputes of this nature, including domestic and international commercial arbitrations, as well as investment arbitration.
He has experience acting as an arbitrator (including appointments as sole arbitrator and President of the Arbitration Tribunal) in international and domestic arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce, CANACO, UNCITRAL, among others.
Education
He is a lawyer from the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, graduating with honors, and holds a Master of Laws within the “International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration” Program, from the New York University (NYU School of Law), having obtained the “Dean’s Graduate Award”. Likewise, since 2017 he is authorized to practice law in the State of New York, being a member of the New York State Bar.
He has completed various postgraduate programs, including the Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration taught by the International Chamber of Commerce/Escuela Libre de Derecho and the Fundamentals of International Arbitration program taught by the University of Miami, as well as the Program on the Legal Regime of the Electric Sector in Mexico taught by the Center for Studies in Law and Government.
Educational Activities
In the academic field, he works as a professor in the Graduate Department of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he teaches the subjects of Arbitration and International Justice, as well as the Legal Regime of the International Sale of Goods and Alternative Means of Dispute Resolution.
Previously, he was also a member of the teaching staff of the Universidad Iberoamericana, teaching the subject of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
He is a professor of the Diploma in Commercial Arbitration taught by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Escuela Libre de Derecho, as well as the Diploma in Dispute Resolution Mechanisms taught by the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the National School of Jurisprudence, the Mexican Academy of Private International Law and the Mediation and Arbitration Center of the National Chamber of Commerce.

He serves as deputy coordinator of the Commercial Law Commission of the Mexican Bar Association, A.C. (BMA)
He is a member of the New York State Bar, the Mexican Bar Association, the National Association of Corporate Lawyers (ANADE), the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (ITA).
He has published several articles on commercial law, as well as commercial and investment arbitration. He is also a frequent speaker on these topics in conferences held in Mexico, the United States and Latin America.
Finally, he served as regional coordinator for Latin America of the Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF) of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and president of the ICC Young Arbitrators Commission, Mexican chapter, for the period 2017-2019.
